Sybarite is a global design practice leading the ever-evolving face of benchmark retail, experiential culture and hospitality. Founded in 2002 as a boutique studio dedicated to luxury retail, Sybarite has since grown into a global design agency with projects ranging in scale from masterplans and architecture to interiors and products. Sybarite’s unique approach is reflected in the studio ethos and appreciation for the finer things in life, whether it be championing cuisine or promoting personal development. To contribute to Sybarite’s global success by leading New Business activity internationally with a specific focus in Asia and the Middle East in retail, hospitality and mixed-use destinations and supporting the wider global strategy. Reporting to the Communications Director in conjunction with the Senior management and Co-Founders day-to-day as well to develop and implement new business strategy. NOTE: This is a full-time position with 4 days in studio and 1 day WFH.


  • Identify potential new customers, and decision makers within the client organisations globally
  • Call/email as appropriate to build relationships with new client/collaborators
  • Price proposals and act as first point of contact for new and repeat clients
  • Identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services
  • Help to maintain and enhance existing relationships
  • Support Business Development Planning
  • Thorough and continual research of the global market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators as well as potential leads
  • Feed into the marketing material and assets to ensure it is fit sales purposes and of the highest possible quality
  • Attend industry functions, and provide feedback and information on market and relevant trends
  • Work with the Senior Management and Founders to define new channels for the company’s abilities and to create strategies for Sybarite’s introduction into these areas in alignment with overall strategy
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities
  • Understand the company’s culture, goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance
  • Help to define and achieve defined targets for new business activity and results
  • Contribute to the securing of new customers and repeat business
  • Brief the Senior Management for Business Development Meetings and project kick off meetings
  • Participate in financial reviews and project ‘health checks’, work with the Chief Operating Officer where required to follow up with clients and issue addendum to main contract or Additional Services
  • Lead on the weekly reporting to Senior Management

Key Skills & Experience

  • Mandarin speaker
  • Fluency in English and possession of a valid work permit or visa for working in the UK
  • Confident communicator at all levels, both face to face and on the phone.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular, a strong ability to follow up with prospects and develop potential relationships over the phone
  • A self-motivated team player
  • Energetic, inspiring and self-motivated
  • Extremely well organized with a great attention to detail
  • Resourceful, intuitive and inventive problem solve
  • A positive attitude with a sense of humour
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business travel
  • Experience in a role where business development and communication is key CRM/Salesforce/database management
  • University degree in related subject – Design/Architecture (preferred)
  • Experience with the management of multiple assignments
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel
  • Cmap or similar Software
  • Skilled in InDesign & Photoshop knowledge
  • Understanding of product design, interior design and the luxury hospitality market
  • Understanding of working in China, Asia and the Middle East, parameters and process
