About the Role 

We are seeking a highly creative and ambitious Midweight Designer / Architect with strong retail knowledge and interior design experience to join our London studio and support the delivery of large-scale luxury retail and mixed-use developments across China.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in shaping projects from concept through to delivery, bringing together strong design thinking, retail and interior spatial planning expertise, and technical understanding. You will be responsible for leading key stages of project development, ensuring design excellence whilst coordinating with consultants, clients and internal disciplines.

This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative and high-profile retail developments globally, ranging from 150,000 sqm to 800,000 sqm, for one of the world’s leading luxury retail operators.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the development of architectural, interior and spatial design concepts across large-scale retail and mixed-use projects.
  • Contribute to the creation of innovative, commercially successful and experience-led design solutions.
  • Take ownership of project packages through Concept Design, Schematic Design and Design Development stages, including design documentation and technical drawing packages.
  • Collaborate closely with Directors to realise project vision and design intent.
  • Coordinate with local architects, consultants and specialist disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead design presentations and communicate design concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage consultant coordination and ensure integration of architectural, interior, structural and MEP requirements.
  • Support project teams in resolving design and technical challenges whilst maintaining design quality.
  • Prepare and review design documentation, presentations, reports, technical drawings and coordinated drawing packages.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative studio culture.
  • Champion design excellence while balancing creativity, technical feasibility and commercial objectives.

About You

Essential

  • Minimum 4–8 years’ professional experience delivering complex architecture, interior design and mixed-use developments.
  • Strong retail knowledge and experience working on large-scale retail, mixed-use, hospitality or commercial projects.
  • Strong experience in large-scale retail, mixed-use and hospitality interior design, with an understanding of customer experience, circulation, merchandising and front-of-house environments.
  • Excellent design, spatial planning and architectural storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to lead Design Development packages, technical drawing packages and coordinated multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of consultant coordination, planning principles and project delivery processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the confidence to engage clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance conceptual thinking with technical rigour and project delivery requirements.
  • Proficiency in Rhino, Enscape and AutoCAD, with the ability to produce clear design models, visualisations and technical drawing outputs.

Desirable

  • Mandarin language skills.
  • Experience working with international developer and operator clients.
  • Experience within luxury retail, lifestyle, hospitality or destination-led developments.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior designers and architects.
  • Proficient in Revit with excellent technical and documentation capabilities.
