Harvey Nichols
Reimagining the iconic department store as a living magazine of culture, curation and discovery.
Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols is reasserting its position within London’s luxury retail landscape. Inspired by the editorial energy of 1990s London, Sybarite’s redesign transforms the Ground Floor into a Living Magazine: dynamic, curated and constantly evolving.

The Living Magazine
Rather than organising the Ground Floor around traditional retail categories, Sybarite conceived the space as an editorial landscape. Fine jewellery, sunglasses, homewares, design objects, fragrance, beauty and accessories are curated together like an ever-changing magazine edit, encouraging exploration, discovery and self-expression.
The result is a more fluid and contemporary customer experience — one that reflects Harvey Nichols’ role as both retailer and cultural curator.
Curating the Runway
At the heart of the redesign sits a family of modular Runway Tables. Designed as sculptural platforms for storytelling, the tables can be reconfigured to support product launches, curated edits, cultural activations and seasonal campaigns.
Acting somewhere between retail fixture, gallery plinth and exhibition stage, they provide Harvey Nichols with a flexible framework through which the Ground Floor can continuously evolve.
Culture, Coffee & Community
Beyond product, the Ground Floor was designed to encourage customers to linger, engage and connect. Sightlines from street to store were opened, with dedicated spaces assigned for pop-up activations and cultural programming introducing moments of surprise and discovery, reinforcing Harvey Nichols’ position within London’s wider creative conversation.
At the end of the Runway Tables sits KURO Coffee — conceived as both destination and pause point within the customer journey. Its rich palette of deep reds, warm materials and lounge-like seating creates a deliberate contrast to the blue-toned customer service area, introducing a more social and relaxed atmosphere within the wider retail environment.
Materiality & Expression
The material palette balances refinement with visual clarity. Concrete, lacquer, clay plaster, glass and acrylic create a tactile yet restrained backdrop, allowing colour and product to take centre stage.
Harvey Nichols’ iconic ultramarine blue is joined by a renewed palette of primary colours, introducing moments of energy and contrast throughout the space. Together, these elements establish an environment that feels simultaneously graphic and human, minimal and expressive.
CONCLUSION
The Harvey Nichols Ground Floor transformation marks an important evolution for one of Britain’s most iconic retailers. Through the concept of the Living Magazine, Sybarite created a flexible and future-facing environment defined by curation, adaptability and contemporary nostalgia, reasserting Harvey Nichols for a new generation while remaining true to the editorial spirit that has long defined the brand.
