Apeiron Hotel
Sybarite’s 2005 concept for Apeiron Tower, a 300,000m2 landmark of 185 meter soaring curved glass is a self-contained and self-sufficient island resort complete with helipad. The 28 levels culminate in unparalleled views across the Arabian Gulf and a double height Butterfly Jungle.
The ultimate statement in redefining 7 Star exclusivity, designed as a covetable retreat – an oasis, only reachable by yacht or helicopter. Apeiron boasts the ultimate in escapism from its home-grown private lagoon and cultivated sea life and coral reef, to the beaches, fresh water pools, galleries, restaurants, cinemas, luxury retail and spas.
It is a dramatic and glistening silhouette on the horizon, yet in perfect equilibrium with its surroundings. The form itself is representative of a seaweed pod reaching for the sun whilst almost fully submerged in the water.
The internal façade consists of louvers made up of solar cells to prevent direct solar gain, as are the ribbons that frame the building and give Apeiron its name which translates as infinity. Energy calculations estimate that the building will generate two thirds of its own energy.
