Marni
Working with the Castiglioni family for 15 years, from the conception of Marni, Sybarite rolled out 250+ global stores with significant flagships in London, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
The stores were always unique with truly individual identities in context with their geographical location and associated culture. The core design principles of Marni retail philosophy were sculptural curves, contemporary clean design and the ability to allure and entice. The interior signage in each of the shops was almost insignificant and yet Marni set a precedent with cultural coding, allowing the coherent identity to come through in the design.
The overarching constant was the iconic sinuous mirror polished stainless-steel rail – a radical and dramatic statement that was inspired by Marni’s signature aesthetic and thus perfectly framed Consuelo’s collections and a feature that is repeatedly reinterpreted. The floating and meandering nature of this is picked up playfully and artfully in displays, vitrines, seating and staircases – showcasing the clothes as if purchasable artforms. Abstract shapes, elliptical forms, strong lines and theatrical lighting are used to create a dramatic backdrop which invites with intrigue.
