Screen X

Located within the Mall of Asia on Seaside Boulevard, ScreenX is conceived in collaboration with SM Malls as an immersive environment that exists beyond the frame, extending the cinematic narrative into the architectural experience itself.

Sybarite devised the concept ‘beyond the frame’ as an architectural response to ScreenX’s 270-degree projection format, where the screen extends across the side walls and into the viewer’s peripheral vision. This concept is translated throughout the interior architecture, whereby media and environment operate in parallel, preparing guests for a fully enveloping experience.

The journey begins at a faceted entrance portal wrapped in branded LED surfaces, broadcasting film content and brand colour as a luminous threshold between the everyday and the imagined. Inside, visitors are intuitively guided toward digital ticketing before entering a layered lobby designed to build anticipation. Dynamic digital and 3D displays animate the space, while a poster wall offers a moment of nostalgia and social interaction ahead of the screening. An enticing snack bar provides all the necessary refreshments required to enjoy the film experience.

The material palette reinforces this heightened atmosphere. Brushed and blackened stainless steel introduce reflectivity and depth; red-tinted plaster and resin inject cinematic warmth and brand energy; black-tinted concrete grounds the space in contrast and shadow. Mosaic tile detailing and custom carpet add texture and tactility underfoot, while integrated LED surfaces dissolve the boundary between the physical and digital realms.

Together, light, materiality and movement create a spatial experience that mirrors ScreenX’s surround-screen technology — immersive, layered, and transcendent.
