Dondup

Sybarite created showrooms in Rome and Milan for Dondup, the maverick denim brand founded in the late ‘90s by the Berloni family at the pivotal moment of L Catterton’s investment. Sybarite were appointed to facilitate a brand redesign and a repositioning to maximise their entry into the international market and to specifically capture the DNA of the brand and translate this seamlessly into a consistent architectural backdrop.

The design is a celebration of the inherent core values of the collections: authenticity, openness, honest traditional Italian craftsmanship and a commitment to innovation.

The material palette takes its cue from the denim business – inspiration was drawn from the tone and materiality of metallic rivets for instance, as well as the universally recognisable beauty in the distressing process of denim washes and wear. Monolithic totems, rails and display units were crafted in brass, oxidised and Corten steel against walls of distressed wood atop a concrete floor. Each element was designed as modular, ensuring maximum movability and flexibility to frame and complement the ever-changing stories of their contemporary collections.
