Villa Moda

Sybarite designed and branded a 4500m² department store over two floors for Villa Moda in the Al Manshar Mall Complex in Kuwait. Located in the Fahaheel district, predominantly conservative and Bedouin, there was a necessary desire to capture the culture and shopping aspirations of their clientele and realise them in context with the retail strategy. Sybarite created a twist on tradition with their contemporary take on a souk experience thus symbolising a union of the past with the present within this fashionably modern and luxurious setting.

Sybarite devised a concept of flexible and adaptable circular pods of differing finishes and sizes which were sliced at angles and scattered nonchalantly throughout the space. These pod slices created varying perspectives throughout the store as a system of intriguing capsules of layered ‘bazaar-style’ moments of merchandised goods from perfume, sunglasses, ready-to-wear, accessories, to food and beauty. These items were displayed both inside and outside of the pods.

Each tenant diligently followed specific design guidelines to ensure their areas worked alongside the client pods thus maintaining a cohesive style and look to the overall store – a sleek glossy white and pastel backdrop.
